Don’t Let Anyone Take Your Christmas Gift

baby jesus in manger

Hello, my friends. Just want to share from my heart this Christmas morning.

Last night, Rob and I attended our Christmas Eve gathering at church, where we talked about God’s gift to the world.

Jesus. Born to save us. To love us. To give us life. Not to condemn or judge us, but to put us in a right relationship with God.

How like God to bring his gift in the form of a tiny and vulnerable baby, born to a couple of teenagers, in a cloud of scandal that never left them. No money, no power. Yet God entrusted to them God incarnate. The Savior. Messiah.

If you feel alone, marginalized, unloved — God does not do that. People do that. Not God. Sometimes even friends and family do that, but not God. He loves you, cares about you, wants to be in a relationship with you.

My friend, don’t listen to the naysayers. Don’t let people tell you God doesn’t love you, or that you don’t belong — that is not true. Those very people were actually told to love you. If they aren’t, then don’t worry about them.

God loves you. Please don’t confuse others’ assessment of you with God’s. Don’t let anyone take your Christmas gift.

Merry Christmas.

  1. Merry Christmas Susan!! Your post had special meaning after getting to hold my 3-day old great-great-grandniece today….so I could truly imagine a “tiny and vulnerable baby” as you say here.

  2. Merry Christmas to you and your family, Susan. Your thoughts and words today are, as always, so comforting and give me peace. Thank you. It is a tough time of year for those who cannot be with their families because they have been turned away. I am glad I can look at our son and his partner with a new set of ‘cross’ eyes and love them just as they are.

  3. Susan, what a beautiful message to read on Christmas morning!

My partner of 30 years and I attended a similar worship service last night, and to hear that all-embracing message of God’s love was so warming to our hearts. God’s greatest gift to us was His Son, Jesus, and He always accepted people who desperately needed his message of love.

Thank you for your blog, and your continuing message of God’s love and acceptance. It is greatly appreciated by more folks than you probably realize.

A very Merry Christmas to you and yours,
    Bob K
